How do I create a riser sound in DaVinci Resolve?

To create a riser sound in DaVinci Resolve, put a source clip on a Fairlight track, reverse it, extend its duration, add a fade-in, and automate the level upward. Adjust by ear against the picture.

  1. Mark the transition. Put the playhead on the frame where the reveal, title, or cut happens, then decide how early the riser should begin.

  2. Place and trim the source. Add the audio file to an empty Fairlight track and trim its end close to the transition. Move any loud transient away from the start or choose another source.

How do I make the riser rise instead of just getting louder?

Make the riser rise by changing at least two qualities over time, such as level plus pitch, texture, brightness, or density. Volume alone can sound like a fade, while layered motion feels more deliberate.

Duplicate the source to a second track and keep the copy quieter. On one layer, use a small pitch lift. On the other, leave the pitch stable and let the reverse and fade create the movement.
